Morning Light

A weekend for the books! But I won’t post about it until Curlie has because, well, it’s her goodness to be shared :)

So instead I’ll just go ahead and take it back a month or so. Pioneer Day weekend. The lovely Franklin Basin. When my family and I went camping there I went on a little ATV ride with my parents. I was kicking myself for not bringing my camera on the ride because the evening light was insanely gorgeous. So I begged and pleaded and talked Jennie into waking up early with me to catch the morning light instead (you know -- strength in numbers). These are some of the results of our morning ride:

Aside from running, the chance to photograph something like this is pretty much the only thing that will get me out of bed any earlier than absolutely necessary. Oh, and maybe banana nutella crepes.

Wednesday Evening

Anyone else happen to catch the sunset last night? When I walked into Smith's the sky was looking all sorts of gloomy and angsty. About 10 minutes later I walked out and saw this business:

Um, YEAH! Talk about majestic. Almost made me to drop an entire carton of eggs -- except for the fact that that's impossible on account of my ninja reflexes. Oh if only I had a quarter for every time they've saved the day ... I could totally buy myself a frosty. REGULAR SIZE.

Ogden

After Sunday dinner. Hanging out with the fam and being lazy on the back deck. And messing around with cameras. Pretty much my idea of a relaxing Sunday evening.

Photo taken with my dad's Droid. Which, I hate to say, has as many megapixels as my little point and shoot camera.

*sigh*
Technology these days. It's tough to keep up.

Beautiful blue skies!

Remember how beautiful and springish and greenish and fantastic it was last weekend? Hold onto that. Cause rumor has it Utah's gonna pull another fast one on us this week.

Rainbows

Weren't yesterday's rainstorms crazy fun? Okay maybe "crazy fun" is an exaggeration, but I'll admit to liking rainy days. And as we were parking at the gym we saw this pretty little thing:

It was actually a double rainbow but unfortunately the double portion was super faint on our side. Despite the poor cell phone quality of the pic it still qualifies for my picture of the day collection. All rainbows have an automatic in. AND it got me super excited to make these again for St. Patrick's Day next week!

Now if only I'd had time to search out the supposed pot of gold at the end of that rainbow ...

One more ...

While I'm on the topic of pretty things, here's one more. If I'm irresponsible in the mornings and don't scrape off my driver side window this is what I get. Isn't it great? I love the intricate details of each crystal. And really love how the crystals look as if they're leaves on the tree. I'm really not a morning person, but stuff like this at least takes the edge off a bit. 

One of these days I'll do a post without a picture. But don't hold your breath.

Saturday

Hate the wind, love the FOG. Beautiful, thick, muting fog. Just look how it transforms my ordinary street. Keep that fog rolling .... followed by an appearance from one of The Vampire Diaries brothers. Preferably Stefan. Although Damon does have those awesome blue eyes so I don't know. Maybe just send 'em both.

And it's only the beginning...

It was a looooong drive to work this morning. But I got a picture or two out of my boredom. Look closely! A pretty snowflake! On my windshield! Christmas is coming!

Just a couple things:

1: Remember this? Well, on Saturday evening Shanna Thrilled the World.


2: I drive past this tree at least twice a day and every single time I think to myself, "WOW ... I really should take a picture before the leaves are all gone." So I finally pulled over and did. Isn't it beautiful?


3: What were you doing at 1:00 a.m. yesterday? I was making these. Cause who needs sleep?* One more reason why I love Halloween! (minus the getting scared part ... we've had waay too much of that at our house lately.)


* Judging from the way I feel today, I DO.

Why I love where I live:

Why is it that the sky looks so amazing lately? Check out Thursday and Friday. I love the shadow of the cloud on Friday.

tiiiiny?

So I came across this website that is supposed to make your pictures look like miniatures. I tried one of my New York ones .... I think it sorta does? I'm undecided. I'll test it with some different ones and see what happens.

BUT .... if you're undecided as well and don't want to hurt my feelings, just lie to me and say that it's totally miniature. And the coolest thing you've ever seen. I'm feeling fine with a lie or two today.

WHY I LOVE DRIVING IN THE RAIN:

Reflections. Everything always looks so crisp and shiny and fresh.


WHY I SHOULDN'T TAKE PICTURES WHILE DRIVING:
#1 I end up driving like I'm 95. Which we all know is generally not the safest thing.
#2 Jen will scold me.

Today's sunrise was pretty great ...

MISC.

The Barbie doll in the back making us all look bad is Delta Goodrem. We had the opportunity to hear her sing live this last weekend. Not only is she gorgeous, she has an amazing voice AND is a very pleasant person. Is it really fair for one girl to have it all?

Meeting Delta has inspired us to start a Wall of Fame. So far The Wall will include our autograph and meeting of Delta, Shanna’s meeting of Jay Leno, her pretend meeting of Tom Hanks, Shanna and Michelle’s meeting of Tyrone, and mine and Natalie’s pretend meeting of Wentworth Miller. It’s a good start, even if they aren’t all exactly credible. We’re not picky.

And onto something else. Sunday I went up the North Ogden divide to look at the leaves. Although they weren’t as vibrant as I had hoped, everything did look nice and crisp because of the rain. (Just pretend those power lines are beautiful trees) Also thanks to that rain, my shoes were packed solid with mud. But it was a good walk with memories of nearly passing out while snowshoeing and honestly thinking I was going to die while tubing. Oh and singeing our eyelashes during Christmas tree bonfires.

ouuuuch

Woke up this morning with a bit of a headache. This is probably in part due to the fact that I went to my cycle class last night sans dinner, overdid it, got really dizzy, and still tried to push myself. Stupid, I know. But if I feel like I'm the slowest peddler in the class, so help me I'm speeding up--dizzy or not. One of these days I'll probably just end up passing out.

So headaches in the mornings suck. I don't think I'm alone in thinking that. And since I'm getting up earlier for my 4-10 schedule, if the headache strikes all I can think about is how everyone one else is still sound asleep and how much I would love to still be sound asleep too.

So here is my attempt at naturally kicking today's headache and appreciating being up early. When I get to work each morning the sun is just coming up. It really is beautiful when the rays start hitting the trees and casting light everywhere. This is what I get to see out of my window when I get in:



Please excuse the weird blind reflection in the bottom half. I love the haziness of the mountains and LOVE the huge tree on the left side which looks incredible when fall hits and the leaves change (you just wait). This really doesn't do it justice.

SIDENOTE: There's some random man outside yelling "I love you!" to nobody in particular. Gotta love working downtown.
